Wildcare’s Zeva Longley Family Adventure Hike
Las Gallinas Wildlife Ponds – August 26, 2023
We had a total of ten families joining us (35 people), with five new families joining for the first time! Everyone enjoyed the beautiful weather and a nice fresh wind coming off the bay for the whole hike. They were lucky to see many butterflies, geese, cormorants, hummingbirds, Great Egrets, swans, seagulls, and four River Otters swimming and playing in the ponds! They had a good time playing the Quail Circle and the color match game, creating nature drawings with berries and flowers, collecting and comparing feathers, identifying scat, and, of course, birding. Our young birders spotted a juvenile Black-crowned Night Heron.
