Reaching Beyond Ourselves

Reaching Beyond Ourselves (RBO) is a California-based non-profit organization dedicated to serving global partners through advocacy and the power of presence. The mission focuses on creating awareness for important causes and providing support by walking alongside those in need. RBO operates on the belief that service is mutually enriching through learning and meaningful relationships.

The organization engages in social project support, immersive mission trips worldwide, and advocacy events, while also coordinating fundraising campaigns in partnership with organizations across the United States. Current efforts are focused on supporting partners in Ukraine and hosting annual immersion trips to Kenya. A core principle echoed by Christian Mungai, a valued collaborator, serves as a guiding philosophy: People are the Wealth.

Project: DON’T CAN’T: Run to the Front

In the fall, Tyler and Nikki Chay, a Californian couple, ran a marathon a day, five days a week, for over 750 miles from the Romanian border to Eastern Ukraine's frontlines. In just two weeks, they’ve completed 12 marathons and over 310 miles (500 km). The campaign, Don’t Can’t: Run to the Front, is a partnership with Reaching Beyond Ourselves (RBO) to support the Chaplain’s Battalion of Mariupol and Republic Pilgrim children’s home.

RBO, co-led by Ryan and Mila Birtcher, coordinates the effort while also cycling across Ukraine. The campaign seeks to raise awareness and aid for Ukrainian allies, advocating for Chaplain Gennadiy Mokhnenko's team, who provide humanitarian and spiritual aid on the frontlines. Funds will sustain their mission and rebuild community projects in Western Ukraine, including the relocated Republic Pilgrim children’s home.

The team will visited churches, met officials, and support social projects for refugees, war widows, and military families.
