Pat Huber and Jay “Sparky” Longley presented a $40,000 check to Wendy Faust of the Live Like Lou Foundation, an organization dedicated to supporting individuals and families affected by ALS. The foundation was launched in 2017 by Phi Delta Theta International Fraternity, of which baseball legend Lou Gehrig was a member. Today, Live Like Lou works to raise awareness of ALS, support doctors and researchers searching for treatments and a cure, and provide direct assistance to families living with the disease.
The spirit of Live Like Lou reflects the remarkable character Lou Gehrig demonstrated following his ALS diagnosis: courage, determination, gratitude and perseverance. The foundation encourages families facing ALS to live by those same values, never giving up, appreciating the people who stand beside them, and creating a lasting legacy of strength and determination.
