What started as a simple Saturday breakfast in a Pico Rivera church parking lot has grown into a powerful force for good. Founded by Pastor Eric Tietze, Heart of Compassion has transformed into a major food bank and outreach center serving over 21,000 families a year.
Today, the nonprofit distributes over 19 million pounds of food annually, along with clothing, furniture, hygiene items, and more across seven Southern California counties. But they go beyond food—offering transitional housing, vocational training, and life skills programs that help people rebuild their lives from the ground up.
Heart of Compassion partners with over 150 organizations and is powered almost entirely by volunteers, proving how far a little compassion can go. From cancer patients to single parents, the stories they touch are endless—and deeply human.
