"As we begin a new year, Edible Schoolyard NYC is so grateful for the ecosystem of support, including friends like Rainbow Sandals Foundation! Just like our gardens thrive when plants, wildlife, and the built environment support each other, our students grow when the whole community is involved.
Your support helped us create spaces for kids to grow and flourish. Last year, we served almost 4,000 students across 16 schools with over 2,200 opportunities for edible education. Edible Schoolyard NYC’s hands-on cooking and gardening programming:
- Supports students’ interest in cooking and healthy eating
- Provides children with opportunities to practice environmental stewardship, connect to nature, and learn how to care for the school garden
- Fosters social and emotional development in a variety of ways, including encouraging students to try new things, learn about other cultures, and work together
- Helps children feel more positive towards school and supports their academic engagement.
